After grade school, many of us realize that being happy and healthy is so much more than popularity, trendy brands of clothing, expensive gadgets, and so on. Nevertheless, the unrealistic female body ideals that are portrayed in our society follow us into adulthood. They have effects on both girls and boys in many ways, and teach us all that a woman’s beauty is conditional. We have all felt like Bella. We all need friends like Peyton. This movement is for ALL of us. —Kathryn L. Cashman Licensed Psychologist Owner/Clinical Director of Cashman Center
Thank you Hailey for sharing your new book, Beautifully Bella, with the 4th and 5th graders at Eagle View Elementary! As our students prepare to become middle schoolers, this message is more important than ever! Each one of them is special and your book empowered them to believe in themselves! My students could easily relate to you and the characters in the story! One girl said she had goosebumps while you read! Hearing this message from someone so close in age to them, who has gone through these struggles but then found strength to overcome it, was very powerful! Thank you for inspiring students to find their own beauty and to also pursue their passions and dreams just like you are! —Kim Hoppert, 4th Grade Teacher
Hailey is such an amazing young lady it is hard to believe that kids could be mean to someone with such a sweet heart. I am so impressed by her passion to help "even one kid" to use her words. I love that she is continuing her mission by working with her school to focus on mental health with the kids. I think we all experienced some form of bullying in life, but is it a right of passage? Hailey doesn't think so and her story will not end with her first book; I can't wait to see what her future brings. God has big plans for all of us and Hailey is going to help God get this message to young teenagers, God is good! —Angela Mulcahy
I am so excited to work with you regarding The Beautifully You Movement. Bravo for doing something to make a difference. I'm behind Bella 100%! —Kelly Huegal, Cashman Center Community Outreach Director
Hailey perfectly conveys the more mature feelings of teenagers like the anxiety of starting high school, evolving friendships and insecurities, while as a writer, never losing the innocence of still being a kid. "Beautiful Bella" is a story that we've all lived through, boy or girl, and even as adults. To quote Bella "You've got to decide what makes you special, and cherish that part of yourself." A very important, powerful reminder for all of us. I really love the book. —Eriq Nelson, Star Studio Talent/ Producer, Children's Hospitals & Clinics MN
Very nice presentation and discussion with students!! Hailey has a good rapport with the students and her message is clear and easy for students to understand. —Pat Pribyl, Principal, Raven Stream Elementary
I loved it! It was the best book ever, I want a copy to keep! —Lilly, age 10
That was AWESOME, I was really proud of Bella!” — Christopher, age 10
I don’t think there is another book out there that addresses this issue so authentically. Too often we get to our kids too late. This is an important book that everyone should not only read, but discuss with their kids. I was shocked at the depth of conversation it started. — Rae, Mom of 4
What a wonderful message this young girl is sharing to EVERYONE!!! As we know, there is so much confusion, self consciousness and doubt in children (and adults) with all the peer pressure and expectations put upon them. I see this story as a Fantastic "Tool" for kids to share and open up to their own feelings...and I am behind it!!!! Thanks for sharing... GO BEAUTIFUL BELLA! —Martii Gudim, Sound Healing/Energy Practitioner
Perfect and brilliant. It’s the message that most people—not just teenagers-- need to hear and truly feel. Thanks for sending it. This is how the world changes. —Judy Tills, Certified Healing Touch Practitioner
